Questions on couples counselling
Many of your questions will be answered here, but if you have further questions, please feel free to contact me via email or SMS me on 0409 596 674 to find a suitable time for me to call you.
Online and face to face sessions are available.
Can online counselling work for couples?
Yes, it does work surprisingly well! It is OK to feel nervous about changing to online or starting to work with me online but once we get started we soon forget that we are talking to each other through a screen – and there are advantages – no travel time and you are in your own environment.
Hope to see you soon on my screen!
Regards, Andrea.
What do we need to do for online sessions?
I can connect with you using Zoom (you do not need an account, just click on the link I send you) or FaceTime.
I have never been to counselling before – what is involved?
You and your partner will attend together and we will look at the problems you have in your relationship and work out how to create a better understanding of each partner and how we can improve your relationship. For more information about counselling look at the Better Health website.
My partner does not want to come, can I come by myself?
Of course you can, individual counselling can help you gain new insights and give you a space to explore your relationship.
In the past relationships have not worked out for me, will it be helpful to discuss my difficulties with you?
Talking about past relationships with a counsellor can assist in approaching a new relationship in a different, more successful way.
How many sessions will we need?
Some issues can be resolved in a few sessions, some take longer. However, every couple is different and after you have met me and are comfortable with my style, we will work out how many sessions will be beneficial for you. Most couples find about 10 sessions helpful.
Do you work with same sex couples?
Yes, I work with same sex couples and all relationships in the LGBTIQ+ community. My passion is relationships in every way, shape or form. I was a volunteer counsellor with Thorne Harbour Health for over two years.
